WORK DETAIL – Equilibrium

This work is part of an ongoing cycle exploring ambivalent states of contemporary existence.

Title: Equilibrium

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Year: 2026

Format: Landscape format (24 × 18 inches)

Colour Space: Deep ultramarine provides a calm background. The figure is rendered in a light cream-white. Hanging weights in ochre, yellow, blue and brown provide a few concentrated splashes of colour without creating a hierarchy.

Stylistic Classification: Symbolist modernism, situated between organic abstraction and diagrammatic constructivism. The formal language combines biomorphic forms with constructive elements.

„Equilibrium” shows a strange creature whose body is crossed by suspended forms, lines, and inner counterweights. What first appears calm, almost playful, reveals on closer inspection a fragile system of support, tension, and dependence.

Inner Equilibrium
The inner weights do not appear as burden, but as the condition for movement. They give the creature direction, posture, and stability. Control appears here as responsibility: the ability to order forces so that freedom can become possible.

The Weight of Order
The same system can become a limitation. Every line binds, every weight demands balance, every movement remains part of an inner mechanism. What provides support can also prevent the unexpected from taking place

Conclusion
The work invites the viewer to feel this conflict directly: between inner order and free movement, between support and limitation. Ambivalence does not arise outside the creature, but within its own equilibrium. Equilibrium follows the principle of the Integrity of Ambivalence.
