„Contract “ depicts a human torso covered with document-like layers and signs. A rupture runs through the body, revealing a spine — a conflict between security and self-determination.

Security through Commitment
In an affirmative reading, the work reflects the desire for stability and predictability. Commitments create order, reduce risk, and enable a comfortable life within conformity. The round, brown form with a subtle golden sheen reads as reward: material security gained through accepted obligations.

Freedom as Risk
From a critical perspective, these commitments become entanglements. Security turns into dependency; functioning replaces vitality. The rupture signals the urge to break free, while the visible spine stands for integrity — required to loosen constraints and choose an autonomous, yet riskier life.

Conclusion
Contract does not choose between security and freedom. It holds open the tension between protection and self-realisation, in line with the integrity of ambivalence.
