„Progress“ presents the tension between an original relationship to nature and rational order. A torii gate and a fish encounter a strict geometric grid structuring the pictorial space.

Origin as Memory
Origin appears as a conscious memory. The torii marks an inner point of reference rather than a lost place. Geometry becomes a means of ordering and understanding origin. The fragmented fish represents a reflective approach to the beginning.

Origin as Distance
At the same time, the work addresses humanity’s growing distance from its original relationship to the world. The grid stands for rationalisation and control. The fish remains visible but loses its actual vitality. Nature is analysed rather than experienced.

Conclusion
The work keeps the tension between order and origin open as a lasting condition of human existence.
It follows the principle of the integrity of ambivalence.
